Latest on Manchester City’s Transfer News Including Updates on Joao Neves and Julian Alvarez

Manchester City are reportedly still in the hunt for Benfica’s promising midfielder Joao Neves this summer, as per sources from Portugal.

The 19-year-old, who recently broke into Benfica’s first team, is expected to make a high-profile transfer during this window. Neves has been on the radar of both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain throughout the summer.

Neves has a release clause of approximately €120m (£100m), making his potential transfer quite expensive. Recent reports suggest that Manchester United might shift their focus to Manuel Ugarte, potentially allowing PSG a clearer path to sign Neves. However, Portuguese outlet O Jogo indicates that Manchester City are still monitoring Neves’ situation.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have set their sights on Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez, naming him their top choice to replace Alvaro Morata this summer.

Alvarez recently contributed to Argentina’s back-to-back Copa America victories in the USA, but rumors about his future persist. Although Chelsea has shown interest, Atletico Madrid are now keen on securing his signature.

ESPN reports that the Spanish club has made Alvarez their primary target to replace Morata, who is nearing a move to AC Milan after playing a crucial role in Spain’s European Championship campaign.

Manchester City is reportedly unwilling to let go of Alvarez easily, though Atletico Madrid are not discounting the possibility of a season-long loan for the Argentine forward.
