Chelsea has made a compelling proposal to persuade a former manager to take over from Mauricio Pochettino. The football club is offering an enticing package to lure the experienced coach back to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea has reportedly extended a lucrative offer to entice a former manager back to Stamford Bridge, potentially replacing Mauricio Pochettino, whose future at the club is uncertain.

The Blues are currently positioned ninth after playing 34 games, although they are still contending for European qualification despite missing out on European competitions this season. Pochettino faced intensified scrutiny following a 5-0 loss to Arsenal, despite signs of improvement in recent matches. The team’s comeback to draw 2-2 against Aston Villa, with Conor Gallagher’s late equalizer, offered a brief respite.

However, financial constraints, particularly due to hefty spending on new players totaling around £450 million since last season, have intensified the pressure on Pochettino. The club’s current standing in ninth place has led to speculation about his tenure.

Among the potential successors, Jose Mourinho is a favored candidate for his third stint with the club. Yet, Chelsea has reportedly set its sights on another former manager, Antonio Conte, to potentially replace Pochettino.

Italian outlet La Repubblica reported that Chelsea has made a substantial offer to lure Conte back for a second spell at the club, facing competition from Napoli. Conte has been without a managerial role since departing from Tottenham in April 2023. He confirmed rejecting an offer from the Saudi Pro League in October, expressing a desire to lead Roma or Napoli, albeit only at the season’s end.

Roma recently appointed Daniele De Rossi as their permanent manager, leaving Napoli with Francesco Calzona until the season’s conclusion. Should Chelsea pursue Conte, they might encounter competition, although the allure of returning to a club where he previously won a Premier League title in 2017 could prove compelling.
