VAR CHAOS! Arsenal ROBBED in Fulham Thriller – Premier League Forced to Release TWO Emergency Statements!
Premier League Issues Two VAR Statements Following Arsenal’s Draw with Fulham
The Premier League released two VAR statements after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon, a match filled with pivotal officiating decisions.
Arsenal entered the game knowing a win would cut Liverpool’s lead to four points, as Liverpool’s derby against Everton had been postponed due to severe weather. However, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled in the first half and conceded early to a goal from Raul Jimenez.
The visitors showed renewed energy after the break, and their persistence paid off in the 52nd minute when William Saliba found the back of the net from close range. VAR reviewed the goal but ultimately upheld the on-field decision, confirming Saliba was onside.
Clarifying the decision, the Premier League’s Match Centre tweeted: “The referee’s call of goal was checked and confirmed by VAR as Saliba was in an onside position.”
Arsenal’s joy was short-lived, as a crucial VAR decision later went against them. Bukayo Saka thought he had secured a late winner, heading home a cross from Gabriel Martinelli. However, VAR determined Martinelli had been marginally offside during the build-up, leading to the goal being overturned.
In a subsequent statement, the Premier League explained: “Saka’s goal was initially awarded on-field. VAR checked and determined that Martinelli was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal be disallowed.”
Arsenal ultimately had to settle for a draw, a result that dents their title hopes. They now trail Liverpool by six points, with the Reds still holding a game in hand that could increase their lead to
nine points.
