TRANSFER BOMBSHELL: Barcelona are making WAVES in the transfer market!
Enzo Fernandez, currently enjoying a stellar season, has emerged as a prime target in the transfer market.
Reports suggest that Barcelona is eager to sign the Argentine midfielder from Chelsea. The Catalan club is reportedly exploring a deal that includes cash alongside two of their first-team players to persuade the London side to part ways with the 23-year-old.
Fernandez has been in remarkable form, netting three goals and delivering six assists in his last seven appearances across all competitions. According to the Spanish outlet *Fichajes.net*, Barcelona has placed Fernandez at the top of their transfer priorities and is prepared to include Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres in the deal to secure his signature.
Despite Barcelona’s ambitious plans, Chelsea remains resolute in retaining the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner. While the proposed inclusion of two prominent players might be enticing, the ultimate decision reportedly lies with Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
Since joining Chelsea in a record £107 million transfer from Benfica in January 2023, Fernandez has contributed 10 goals and 12 assists over 81 appearances for the club.
Ex-Barcelona Star Critiques Chelsea Loanee
Elsewhere, former Barcelona midfielder Emmanuel Petit has criticized Raheem Sterling for his underwhelming loan stint at Arsenal.
Sterling, who was deemed surplus to Chelsea’s requirements by head coach Enzo Maresca earlier this year, joined Arsenal on loan during the summer transfer window. However, the ex-Manchester City forward has struggled to impress, recording just one goal and two assists in 10 matches for the Gunners.
Speaking to Gambling Zone, Petit shared his concerns about Sterling’s attitude and form:
“Raheem Sterling seems off this season. Without his pace, what does he really bring to the table? It feels like he’s lost his passion for the game, almost as if he thinks he’s already accomplished everything he needs to in football.”
Petit also speculated that Chelsea might look to sell Sterling outright next summer, possibly requiring him to accept a reduced salary to facilitate a transfer.
“If he’s unwilling to lower his wages, Sterling may remain at Chelsea but won’t feature in the squad again,” Petit concluded.
