SHOCK MOVE AT STAMFORD BRIDGE! Chelsea’s £39M defender has been placed on the transfer list as manager Enzo Maresca makes his stance crystal clear ahead of January!
Chelsea Reportedly List £39m Defender for Transfer as Enzo Maresca Makes Decision
Chelsea have reportedly decided to list one of their first-team players for transfer ahead of the January window, signaling another potential squad adjustment under manager Enzo Maresca.
Following a hectic summer that focused on reducing a bloated squad of 43 players at the start of the Premier League season, Chelsea managed significant outgoings. However, some players, including Ben Chilwell, who wasn’t registered in the Premier League squad, remain under contract.
Under Maresca’s guidance, the streamlined squad has performed well, sitting in second place in the league, just two points behind leaders Liverpool, although Chelsea have played one more game. Given their current form, the January window is not expected to see major activity at Stamford Bridge, but several players could still depart.
According to Spanish outlet *Relevo*, French defender Axel Disasi has been placed on the transfer list. The 26-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Monaco for £39 million in 2023, has struggled for game time this season. He has made only two Premier League starts and has primarily featured in domestic cup matches and the UEFA Conference League.
Disasi was a consistent starter under former manager Mauricio Pochettino and delivered a standout performance in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City last season. However, Maresca has opted to rely on other defensive options, including Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, and Benoit Badiashile.
Chelsea are reportedly looking to recoup as much of their initial investment in Disasi as possible, with Newcastle United emerging as a potential suitor. Any funds raised from his sale could be used to bolster Chelsea’s attacking options. Maresca had expressed interest in signing a new striker in August to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson.
