Genuinely Pathetic!” Fans ERUPT after Manchester United’s Embarrassing 3-0 Loss to Bournemouth
Fans Criticize Manchester United Player After Bournemouth Defeat
Manchester United fans voiced their frustration on X after Joshua Zirkzee’s lackluster performance during the team’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. The Premier League match took place at Old Trafford on Sunday, December 22, and left many supporters deeply dissatisfied.
Bournemouth opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Dean Huijsen outjumped Zirkzee to head the ball past Andre Onana. A clumsy penalty conceded by Noussair Mazraoui early in the second half allowed Justin Kluivert to double Bournemouth’s lead in the 61st minute. Just two minutes later, Antoine Semenyo completed a fluid team move to secure the visitors’ dominant victory.
Zirkzee, who started as United’s main striker, was substituted in the 54th minute for Rasmus Hojlund. During his time on the pitch, the 23-year-old struggled to make an impact. He completed only six of his 11 attempted passes, with a passing accuracy of 55%. He failed to create any chances, registered no shots on target, and lost four duels, including three in the air.
Fans on social media were harsh in their criticism. One supporter compared Zirkzee to a 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, tweeting:
“Zirkzee can’t be 23 years old moving the way he moves. 37-year-old Ronaldo had more movement in him than this.”
Others echoed similar sentiments:
– “Genuinely pathetic by Zirkzee.”
– “Zirkzee is unfortunately worse than the super washed version of Martial.”
– “Zirkzee plays like he’s just woken up, makes no sense.”
– “Zirkzee, you are 6 foot 4; how can you not win a single aerial duel?”
– “You cannot convince me on Zirkzee. The guy is awful. Hojlund is comfortably better, and that says a lot.”
Ruben Amorim Reflects on Bournemouth Loss
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged his team’s nervousness and pinpointed their vulnerability on set-pieces as a critical factor in the defeat. Speaking after the match, Amorim said:
“It’s hard. In this context, it’s difficult to string together two or three wins. We’re trying, but this game was tough. Once again, we conceded from a set-piece. We were a little bit nervous, and the atmosphere in the stadium didn’t help…”
The loss leaves Manchester United in 13th place with 22 points from 17 games, a significant 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool. Meanwhile, Bournemouth climbed to fifth place with 28 points.
United will aim to bounce back when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Thursday, December 26.
