Mourinho has previously informed Manchester United about the potential benefits of signing Dybala.
Mourinho has already informed Manchester United about the potential Paulo Dybala could bring to their squad.
Roma forward Paulo Dybala will have just 12 months left on his contract this summer, making him an intriguing option for Manchester United, who have invested over £200 million in this position in recent years.
In 2019, Manchester United missed the chance to sign Paulo Dybala. Now, five years later, the World Cup winner could be the solution to their costly £201 million dilemma, and he comes highly recommended by former United manager Jose Mourinho.
Back in 2019, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United attempted to secure the versatile forward, who ultimately chose to remain in Serie A despite interest from Tottenham.
Now, speculation about Dybala’s future at Roma is resurfacing as the summer transfer window approaches. The former Juventus star might be ready for a new challenge after spending over a decade in Italy.
Mourinho, currently working with Dybala at Roma, has praised the player: “Dybala is a great guy. He has the quality to play for the biggest clubs in the world, but he’s found happiness here.”
Indeed, Dybala has excelled at Roma, scoring 31 goals and providing 15 assists in 64 appearances across various competitions, and contributing to their Europa Conference League victory in 2022. His performance has been impressive from multiple positions.
This season, the 30-year-old has played as a No.10 and on the right side. Manchester United lack depth at No.10 behind Bruno Fernandes, and while Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho prefer the left, they have had to adapt due to the struggles of Antony and others on the right.
Since passing on Dybala, United have spent £201 million on right wingers like Antony, Jadon Sancho, Amad Diallo, and Facundo Pellistri. Although right wing isn’t Dybala’s preferred position, his five goals in seven games there this season show his effectiveness cutting inside on his left foot.
With just 12 months remaining on his contract when the transfer window reopens, Dybala would be a cost-effective option for United or any other interested club. Unlike some of Old Trafford’s more expensive signings, a player who could have been signed for €13 million (£11 million) in January might prove invaluable.
Mourinho’s endorsement only strengthens Dybala’s case.
