Erling Haaland’s agent has already shared her perspective on the possibility of a new Manchester City contract.
Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, was all smiles as he celebrated his hat-trick against West Ham United, adding to his tally of seven goals in just three Premier League matches this season. While his goal-scoring ability is remarkable, it’s also noteworthy that City have managed to retain him for so long. In 2022, many believed Haaland’s stay in Manchester would be brief, with clubs in Munich and Madrid eyeing him. His father, Alfie Haaland, also mentioned his son’s ambition to play in every major European league.
However, despite ongoing speculation about Haaland’s future, this summer has been unusually quiet on that front. He was even handed the captain’s armband during City’s pre-season tour in the U.S. and has been in high spirits at the club’s training grounds.
Since his arrival in 2022, City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain and manager Pep Guardiola have been fully aware of the dynamics surrounding Haaland, especially with his representation by first Mino Raiola and now Rafaela Pimenta. Last year, Pimenta remarked, “Erling is always in control of his own future. He will make decisions that are best for him and City, and when the time comes for a change, it will happen.”
This reflects City’s general approach, as seen with players like Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, and Julian Alvarez, who were allowed to leave for the right offer when they sought new challenges. Guardiola prefers not to keep dissatisfied players, and Pimenta ensures her clients remain content.
City has excelled in keeping its top talents, like Ruben Dias convincing Bernardo Silva to stay another year despite outside interest. Haaland may eventually leave, but as long as he remains happy, City has little to worry about regarding his contract. And for now, he certainly seems content.
