BOMBSHELL: Kalvin Phillips’ Manchester City Career Over!

Kalvin Phillips Loan Exit Looms as Barcelona and Man City Have Plans Prepared

Latest Transfer News on Kalvin Phillips, Joao Cancelo, and Ederson

Aston Villa Pursues Kalvin Phillips:

Aston Villa has reportedly made a move for Manchester City’s midfielder, Kalvin Phillips, just a day after he requested to leave the club. The 28-year-old had spent the latter part of last season on loan at West Ham to gain more playing time but did not manage to make a significant impact under David Moyes. Since joining City from Leeds United two years ago, Phillips has faced a challenging period.

Both Manchester City and Phillips are said to favor a permanent transfer. However, Villa has proposed a loan deal, having already strengthened their midfield this summer. The funds from selling Douglas Luiz were used to acquire Everton’s Amadou Onana for £50 million.

According to Football Insider, Phillips wants to exit City due to his struggles to adapt. A move to Villa could rejuvenate his career, especially with the team entering the Champions League for the first time since the early 1980s following their impressive fourth-place finish last season.

Joao Cancelo’s Future at Barcelona:

Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo’s potential transfer to Barcelona is uncertain. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona might not aggressively pursue the City full-back. After a loan spell at Barcelona last season, Cancelo is also attracting interest from several Saudi Pro League teams, though he prefers a move to Barcelona.

City hopes to finalize a permanent deal for Cancelo, valued at around £30 million, but Barcelona is cautious about overspending. If the transfer doesn’t materialize, Barcelona has a contingency plan involving Julian Araujo, Hector Fort, and Jules Kounde to fill the right-back position.

Ederson’s Potential Departure:

Manchester City may need to bolster their goalkeeping options if first-choice keeper Ederson leaves for the Saudi Pro League. Reports suggest a substantial offer has been made for Ederson’s services. With Stefan Ortega and Scott Carson being the remaining goalkeepers at the club, City might need to enter the transfer market to strengthen this position. However, Football Insider indicates that Ortega would still be the preferred choice for the 2024/25 season.
