Despite his success, injuries limited his playing time last season, and interest from Saudi Arabia has emerged. In a recent interview, De Bruyne acknowledged the financial lure of Saudi Arabia, saying, “At my age, you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money at what might be the end of my career. If I played there for two years, I could earn an incredible amount. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years.”
He added, “I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. At the moment, I haven’t had to think about that [a summer transfer] yet.”
