BOMBSHELL TRANSFER UPDATE! Everton’s shocking move sets the stage for Manchester United to land Jarrad Branthwaite!
Everton’s potential transfer of Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United appears imminent, according to Fabrizio Romano’s recent update.
Manchester United, having already added two new players this summer, might now include Jarrad Branthwaite in their lineup. The club has invested almost £90 million in acquiring Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Leny Yoro from Lille.
To balance these expenditures, United has sold several players who were not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans. These sales include Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica for £7.5 million, Donny van de Beek to Girona for up to £7.6 million, Willy Kambwala to Villarreal for nearly £10 million, and Mason Greenwood to Marseille for £26.6 million.
Focusing on bolstering their defense, United remains active in the transfer market. They have agreed on personal terms with Matthijs de Ligt but have yet to finalize a transfer fee with Bayern Munich for the former Ajax defender.
United’s pursuit of Branthwaite has seen two bids rejected by Everton. The first offer of £35 million plus add-ons and a second offer of £45 million plus £5 million in extras were both declined. Everton has set Branthwaite’s price at up to £80 million, with his contract extending until 2027.
However, Romano reports that Everton has agreed ‘in principle’ to sign Jake O’Brien from Lyon, with a medical scheduled for Sunday and a five-year contract proposed to the Republic of Ireland international. O’Brien’s arrival could indicate Everton’s readiness for Branthwaite’s departure, potentially increasing United’s chances of securing the England international with a third bid.
This development suggests that United’s next offer for Branthwaite may now be more likely to succeed.
