BREAKING: BRUNO BACKS AMORIM FOR THE UNITED JOB!
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes firmly believes Ruben Amorim has what it takes to thrive at a top European club.
Following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal on Monday after a challenging start to the season, Amorim has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to step in as United’s next permanent manager. Ten Hag, who led United to only three victories in their first nine Premier League games, had previously survived an end-of-season review after securing an FA Cup final win over Manchester City. However, with a difficult start to the current season, United’s decision-makers opted to end his tenure.
On Monday evening, Manchester Evening News confirmed that Amorim is set to become United’s new manager. Fernandes, a former Sporting player who left the club shortly before Amorim’s arrival, has voiced his support for the young coach, expressing confidence in his ability to succeed at “the next level.”
Speaking to SportTV in March 2024, Fernandes shared, “If he takes the next step—though I hope he stays at Sporting—I’m confident he has the qualities to succeed in English, French, or Spanish football.”
He acknowledged the Premier League’s unique appeal, adding, “The qualities to succeed in England are there, but it ultimately depends on the clubs and their willingness to meet Sporting’s release clause.”
