BREAKING: Diego Moreira’s Chelsea Career Comes to an End!
Chelsea has announced the permanent transfer of midfielder Diego Moreira to RC Strasbourg, just over a year after he joined from Benfica. The Portugal Under-21 international initially signed with Chelsea in July 2023 and made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon last season.
Moreira later went on loan to Lyon on transfer deadline day, where he made nine appearances before returning to Chelsea in January. Upon his return, he became a key player for Chelsea’s Under-21s, notably scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal that helped secure a spot in the Premier League 2 play-offs.
Now, Moreira has moved to RC Strasbourg, a club also under the ownership of BlueCo. Reports indicate that Chelsea has included a buy-back clause in the deal, with Moreira committing to a five-year contract with the French team.
Strasbourg, managed by former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior, could see Moreira make his debut against Montpellier on Sunday. He will reunite with former Chelsea teammates Andrey Santos and Caleb Wiley, who also joined Strasbourg on loan earlier this summer. Additionally, Djordje Petrovic has been rumored to be considering a move to the French club, as his future at Chelsea remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is still in negotiations with Atletico Madrid over a potential deal involving Conor Gallagher and Joao Felix. Initially, the talks included Samu Omorodion in a swap deal, but that part of the deal fell through, complicating Gallagher’s move. Despite this setback, discussions are ongoing, with Felix now being considered instead of Omorodion. Reports suggest there is still hope for an agreement, even though Felix is interested in a return to Stamford Bridge.
