Manchester City Identify Replacement for Kevin De Bruyne as Belgian Nears Exit

Premier League champions Manchester City have begun the search for a successor to their midfield star, Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian playmaker, a standout performer for City over the past decade, has been instrumental in the club’s successes in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

However, De Bruyne’s tenure at the Etihad Stadium might be drawing to a close. Journalist Rudy Galetti has reported that De Bruyne’s representatives have met with a Saudi delegate and approved a potential transfer to Saudi Pro League powerhouse Al-Ittihad.

Galetti indicates that Manchester City is open to allowing De Bruyne to leave the club.

In anticipation of his departure, City has begun scouting potential replacements.

According to TeamTalk, Manchester City has identified Benfica’s Joao Neves as a top candidate. The highly-rated teenager has also caught the attention of City’s Premier League rivals, Manchester United. To acquire Neves, City would need to meet Benfica’s full £105 million release clause.

Additionally, Manchester City has shortlisted other young talents, including Paris Saint-Germain’s Xavi Simons. Simons, who impressed during his loan spell at RB Leipzig, has attracted interest from several top European clubs.

German midfielders Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala are also on City’s radar as they prepare for a future without De Bruyne.

The departure of the Belgian midfielder would be a significant blow to the Cityzens, given his crucial role in the team’s successes. While the identified options possess immense potential, they have big shoes to fill in replacing De Bruyne.
