Manchester United Gains Transfer Fee as Omari Forson Departs
Omari Forson has left Manchester United after his contract expired.
Manchester United will receive a compensation fee for Forson’s transfer to AC Monza in Italy.
Forson’s contract at Old Trafford ended on Sunday, concluding his five-year tenure with the club, which he joined from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2019.
Although Manchester United, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, aimed to keep the 19-year-old, their contract offers were declined by his representatives.
Despite United’s willingness to present competitive offers, Forson opted to join Monza in early June, signing a contract until 2028.
United have confirmed his departure following the expiration of his contract on June 30, with his new contract at Monza starting today (July 1). United issued a statement confirming his exit, as he was one of the players mentioned in their retained list on June 5.
United will receive a compensation fee for Forson, who made seven first-team appearances during his time at Old Trafford. Due to regulations, compensation is required when a player under 24 rejects a contract to sign with another club. Given Forson’s limited appearances, the compensation amount is expected to be less than seven figures.
