BREAKING: Man Utd Fans in Shock Over January Transfer Bombshell!

Amorim Open to Offloading £350,000-a-Week Manchester United Pair in January

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly prepared to part ways with high-earning stars Christian Eriksen and Antony during the upcoming January transfer window. According to GIVEMESPORT, the move would aim to free up resources for potential squad reinforcements at Old Trafford.

Adjusting the Squad Amid Financial Considerations

Despite United’s heavy spending last summer, including the £58.9 million acquisition of Leny Yoro from Lille, Amorim is eager to reshape the squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag. The recent departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth, following dissatisfaction with his managerial input, has prompted Amorim to work closely with club executives to identify areas for improvement.

Eriksen and Antony on the Chopping Block

Sources indicate that Eriksen and Antony could be sold to ease wage bill pressures and boost the winter transfer budget. Together, the pair earns £350,000 per week, and their departures would create financial flexibility for mid-season signings.

Amorim reportedly does not see Eriksen as a part of his long-term plans, particularly as the midfielder’s contract approaches its expiration next summer. Meanwhile, Antony, who joined United in a high-profile £86 million transfer from Ajax in 2022, has struggled to justify his price tag and has fallen behind players like Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo in the pecking order.

Limited Game Time and Performance Struggles

Eriksen and Antony’s lack of significant contributions this season underlines their uncertain futures. Eriksen has played just 515 minutes in the Premier League, while Antony has managed only 45 minutes, raising questions about their roles moving forward.

Focus on Squad Depth, Not Strikers

While selling Eriksen and Antony would bolster the transfer budget, Amorim is not expected to pursue a new striker, despite United’s struggles in front of goal. With only 19 Premier League goals this season—fewer than even relegation-battling Wolverhampton Wanderers—Amorim remains content with Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and summer signing Joshua Zirkzee as attacking options.

Instead, the manager’s priority is strengthening the left-back position to address key defensive gaps.

Looking Ahead to January

As January approaches, the potential exits of Eriksen and Antony signal Amorim’s intent to recalibrate his squad. While the duo’s departure remains uncertain, their sale could mark a significant step in reshaping Manchester United’s ambitions for the remainder of the season.
