BREAKING(opinion): Man Utd’s Secret Weapon Revealed! Could THIS Be Their Strongest Europa League XI?
Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte set for key roles in Man Utd’s Europa League squad as team is revealed.
Leny Yoro has been named in Manchester United’s 25-man squad for the UEFA Europa League, as the team prepares to embark on its European campaign.
The Europa League group stage is just around the corner, with Manchester United preparing to kick off their quest for the trophy. Their first match will be on Wednesday, 25 September, against FC Twente at Old Trafford, and United will be aiming for a strong start in the competition.
United’s full squad for the tournament has now been confirmed on the UEFA website, featuring all of their summer signings, including Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte.
Additionally, players like Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Toby Collyer, who meet the criteria for the youth list, don’t need to be included in the main 25-man roster but will still be available for selection.
Among the notable inclusions on the A-list are Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro. With the available squad in mind, what could Erik ten Hag’s preferred starting lineup look like?
Although currently recovering from a foot injury, Yoro is expected to partner with Lisandro Martinez in defense once fit. Luke Shaw’s return from injury will be another boost for Ten Hag, with Diogo Dalot currently filling in at left-back.
In midfield, Ugarte, another recent arrival, could bring additional defensive stability, pairing with Mainoo. Amad, who impressed with a recent cameo against Liverpool, may find himself in the lineup, despite playing on the opposite wing to his usual position, due to Marcus Rashford’s excellent form.
A final fitness update that could influence the lineup is the status of striker Rasmus Hojlund, who has yet to feature this season. However, after netting five times in six Champions League appearances last season, he could be Ten Hag’s first choice ahead of Zirkzee.
Possible Manchester United starting XI for the Europa League: Onana; Mazraoui, Yoro, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Ugarte; Garnacho, Fernandes, Amad; Hojlund.
