CHELSEA’S GOALKEEPER EXODUS: 4th Transfer in 1 Week Rocks the Blues!

Chelsea set to complete fourth transfer this week after Maresca squad decision

Chelsea transfer news as young goalkeeper Eddie Beach set to become latest Blues ace on loan

Chelsea academy goalkeeper Eddie Beach is set to join Crawley Town on loan, UXSPORTS.co.uk understands. The young shot-stopper will follow Alfie Gilchrist, Andrey Santos, and Aaron Anselmino in leaving the club this week.

Beach was included in Chelsea’s initial 29-man pre-season squad that travelled to America last month but did not play under Enzo Maresca. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Gateshead, where he played just five times.

The 20-year-old suffered an injury shortly after completing his move away last term, which hampered his progression, and only played one National League game after being ruled out for a month. The step up to League One follows an impressive rise for the English-born gloveman.

Beach was named as open of four goalkeepers taken to USA by Maresca for preparations ahead of the 2024/25 season. Alongside Robert Sanchez and Marcus Bettinelli, the two senior options, he was joined by fellow academy graduate Lucas Bergstom, who did get onto the field.

Filip Jorgsenen was signed by the club during the tour, arriving from Villarreal. Alongside the outcasted Kepa Arrizabalag, it left a swell of options in goal.

As well as Beach, Chelsea have already seen Under-18 ‘keeper Luke Campbell leave on loan for first-team football opportunities at non-league outfit Hendon FC. Beach himself has experience throughout the English pyramid having played at Chelsmford previously.

This is the latest in a line of temporary departures for the Blues, who have a bloated group under their new head coach. Santos was with Beach Stateside but left to go to BlueCo-owned RC Strasbourg again whilst Gilchrist completed an EFL loan of his own to Sheffield United.

Anselmino was confirmed as having been purchased by Chelsea on a long-term deal before being sent back to Boca Juniors. More exits, and high profile ones too, are expected to follow with Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah among them.
