Details of Arsenal’s Abandoned Premier League Trophy Parade Plans Unveiled in ‘Leaked’ Letter
Details of Arsenal’s canceled Premier League trophy parade plans have surfaced in a “leaked” letter from Islington Council, which was sent to local residents.
The letter from Islington Council outlines the intended schedule and route for the scrapped parade.
As the final day approached, Manchester City led the Premier League, two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s team needed a remarkable outcome at the Etihad, where City faced West Ham. For a brief moment, Arsenal had hope after Mohammed Kudus scored.
However, City secured their fourth consecutive top-flight title, a first in English football history, with goals from Phil Foden (2) and Rodri, resulting in a 3-1 victory.
On Tuesday, Islington Council sent an extensive letter to business owners regarding a “potential” open-top bus parade scheduled for Monday, 20 May 2024, at 5pm.
“The purpose of this letter is to outline the possible events if the parade takes place, allowing local businesses to plan accordingly,” it stated.
“This could be a great opportunity to capitalize on increased foot traffic, or alternatively, you may choose to close early to participate in the parade or leave the area before the crowds gather.
“Should Arsenal Football Club win the Premier League, a celebratory bus parade is planned. It would begin and end at Emirates Stadium, passing the Town Hall on Upper Street, Islington.”
The letter also included a timetable and route, along with information on safety and facilities.
Here is the proposed timetable and route, which mirrors that of the 2003/04 squad’s parade when they won the Premier League title.
– 5pm: The parade would depart from Emirates Stadium at Drayton Park, proceeding along Drayton Park, Aubert Park, Highbury Grove, St Paul’s Road, Upper Street, and returning to the stadium.
– 7pm: The parade would return to Emirates Stadium, with players making a brief appearance on the podium above The Armoury store on Hornsey Road.
– 8pm: The celebration event concludes.
