GREENWOOD’S FUTURE SECURED! Star agrees a new stunning deal with Manchester United
Manchester United Makes Significant Decision on Mason Greenwood, Issues Rare Official Update on Forward
Manchester United has decided to retain Mason Greenwood for the upcoming season.
Greenwood, who has not played for the club since his arrest in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, controlling behavior, and assault, had all charges against him dropped. The 22-year-old has always denied the accusations.
Last season, Greenwood was on loan at Getafe, where he earned the club’s Player of the Season award by scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances.
With ongoing speculation about his future, United has chosen to keep Greenwood, who has a year left on his contract, for now. However, the club is expected to sell him during the summer transfer window.
Several clubs, including Juventus, Napoli, and Borussia Dortmund, have expressed interest in Greenwood, and Getafe is reportedly keen to retain him. Despite this, Greenwood appears to be leaving Getafe, as evidenced by his farewell message to the club and its fans on Instagram.
On Instagram, Greenwood expressed his gratitude: “Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own. I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club. A bittersweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you. I wish you all the best.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United is also deliberating on the future of manager Erik ten Hag. Despite leading the team to their lowest Premier League finish in history last season, ten Hag did secure the FA Cup for the club.
