MAJOR CHELSEA NEWS! Romeo Lavia is BACK and could play in today’s crucial match against Nottingham Forest!
Chelsea Hints at Romeo Lavia’s Return for Nottingham Forest Match
Chelsea has provided a significant clue that Romeo Lavia might be available for today’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
Lavia, 20, has struggled with injuries since his £58 million move from Southampton to Chelsea in 2023. After featuring only four times under Mauricio Pochettino last season, he has appeared just twice this campaign.
He made his season debut in August during Enzo Maresca’s first match as head coach against Manchester City but was sidelined again due to a hamstring injury. Lavia made a brief return last week, coming off the bench for 11 minutes in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Brighton.
Omitted from the squad for the Conference League, Lavia had a week of recovery before today’s match. On Sunday, Chelsea’s official X account posted a matchday image featuring Lavia, suggesting his potential involvement.
Chelsea often includes players in their matchday graphics who are expected to play some part in the game, making it likely that Lavia will get more minutes today. Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been the starting midfield duo, but Lavia’s return could prompt a reshuffle.
However, Lavia’s return presents a challenge for Chelsea’s coach. With more players available than can be named in the matchday squad, some players may have to be left out.
Additionally, Lavia has not been selected for Belgium’s upcoming international fixtures, allowing him to focus on training at Cobham as Chelsea gears up for a busy October and November.
