“My happiness remains incomplete!” Erling Haaland has just dropped a bombshell ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with Liverpool:
“My happiness feels incomplete. It has always been my dream to win and score a hat-trick against Liverpool, and I aim to make that dream a reality tomorrow,” stated Erling Haaland, reflecting on Manchester City’s recent challenges.
Haaland has faced Liverpool seven times across various competitions, beginning with his stint at Red Bull Salzburg during the 2019-20 Champions League season.
The Norwegian striker netted his first goal against Liverpool during a dramatic group-stage match at Anfield, equalizing just four minutes after coming off the bench in a 4-3 loss. However, he couldn’t replicate the feat in the return leg, where Salzburg fell 2-0 at home.
After moving to Borussia Dortmund and later joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has struggled to consistently deliver against the Reds.
His only triumph over Liverpool came in December 2022 during the EFL Cup fourth round, where he scored the opening goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland’s debut against Liverpool as a City player in the 2022-23 Community Shield ended in frustration, with Guardiola’s side suffering a 3-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium. The match also saw Haaland miss a late chance to find the net.
In Premier League encounters, Haaland is yet to taste victory against Liverpool (two draws, one loss). Although City secured a dominant 4-1 win over Liverpool in April 2023, Haaland missed the game due to a groin injury.
At Anfield, Haaland’s record remains unimpressive, with no wins and no goals to his name as a City player, tallying one draw and one defeat. However, he did manage to score in a 1-1 draw at the Etihad in November 2023.
