Ruben Amorim’s Bold Move: He’s Bringing Viktor Gyokeres AND Morten Hjulmand to Manchester United!
A new phase is set to begin at Manchester United with Ruben Amorim’s arrival, and the club may soon see fresh faces joining the squad.
Manchester United officially announced Amorim as their new head coach, taking over from Erik ten Hag, who departed last month. Until Amorim’s arrival later in the month, Ruud van Nistelrooy will handle interim coaching duties. Amorim’s debut as United’s manager is scheduled for an away match against Ipswich Town on November 24, following the international break.
With the January transfer window approaching, rumors are already swirling about potential signings, including a possible move for Sporting Lisbon’s striker, Viktor Gyokeres. Sky Germany reports that United, now led by Amorim, might enter the competition for the Swedish forward, who has scored an impressive 63 goals in 66 matches under Amorim’s guidance over the past 18 months. United will reportedly face competition from top Premier League rivals, including Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Although Gyokeres has a €100 million (£84 million) release clause, Sporting might be willing to negotiate a fee between €50 million and €60 million (£42 million-£50 million) if he leaves next summer.
Another player potentially on United’s radar is Gyokeres’ teammate, Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand. According to Give Me Sport, United may be eyeing Hjulmand as a midfield addition, with Christian Eriksen likely departing once his contract concludes this season. If United pursues Hjulmand, he could reunite with Amorim at Old Trafford, possibly joining either in January or next summer.
