Chelsea may have a surprising advantage in their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The London club’s interest in the 25-year-old has been ongoing, though his substantial release clause of £110 million makes the transfer challenging, especially with Paris Saint-Germain also vying for his signature. PSG are looking for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who recently finalized his move to Real Madrid. Whether Napoli decides to sell Osimhen or not, the Nigerian forward will command a hefty fee from either Chelsea or PSG due to his contract.
Despite Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, dismissing rumors of a potential swap deal involving Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, there are reports that Napoli is keen on the Belgian striker. Lukaku, who has worked with Napoli’s current manager Antonio Conte during his time at Chelsea, has reportedly been a subject of interest, and discussions have taken place about a possible move.
Moreover, Napoli’s interest might extend beyond Lukaku. According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli could also be eyeing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and, despite being signed for €80 million from Atletico Madrid six years ago, he now faces an uncertain future with Chelsea.
Chelsea has already brought in Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal this summer. With just a year remaining on Kepa’s contract, his market value has decreased, but Napoli’s interest could present a timely opportunity for Chelsea to solidify their relationship with the Italian club.
