TRANSFER APOCALYPSE: Chelsea’s Osimhen Dream HANGS BY A THREAD!
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Napoli star Victor Osimhen before the transfer window closes appear slim, as Napoli has reportedly reached an agreement with Al-Ahli. However, Chelsea’s chances of securing the striker have not completely faded.
Enzo Maresca’s squad made a last-minute offer for Osimhen after protracted discussions with Napoli. The offer was believed to involve an initial loan with a commitment to purchase the Nigerian forward next summer.
To finalize the deal before the Friday deadline, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, flew to Naples on Thursday night to continue negotiations.
The final decision now rests with Osimhen, who must choose whether to stay in Europe or move to the Middle East. Earlier this week, his agent, Roberto Calenda, indicated that the striker is more inclined to remain in Europe, downplaying the possibility of a move to Saudi Arabia.
“Osimhen is under contract with Napoli, which was recently renewed to the satisfaction of both parties,” Calenda said. “He has made history, and even when significant offers came in this year, we respected the club’s decisions.”
Calenda further explained that Osimhen is not simply a player to be sent away to make room for new talents. “Victor was named African Footballer of the Year and placed eighth in the Ballon d’Or rankings. He still has much to achieve in Europe. It’s important to show respect and maintain a balanced perspective,” he added.
