UNBELIEVABLE! Arsenal’s 17-year-old sensation Ethan Nwaneri just SMASHED a record that may NEVER be touched!
Ethan Nwaneri has set a remarkable new record with a sensational goal for Arsenal in their Carabao Cup match against Preston.
For the match at Deepdale, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta fielded a strong lineup, featuring notable players like William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Mikel Merino. However, it was the 17-year-old Nwaneri who stole the spotlight, scoring Arsenal’s second goal at the 33rd minute with an impressive 30-yard left-footed shot that left Preston’s goalkeeper Freddie Woodman helpless.
This memorable goal further cemented Nwaneri’s place in Arsenal’s history. At just 17 years and 223 days, he became the youngest player for the club to score in his first two starts, having already netted twice in a 5-1 victory against Bolton on September 26.
Following that game, Arteta was full of praise for the youngster. “He’s making progress every day,” Arteta shared with Arsenal.com. “The fans really appreciate him. You can see he plays without pressure and with confidence, making smart choices that show he’s ready for this level. Today, he delivered a solid performance, and I’m pleased with that.”
Nwaneri’s record-breaking feats began in 2022, when he made history by becoming the youngest player to appear in the Premier League at just 15 years and 181 days, surpassing Harvey Elliott’s previous record. His appearance against Brentford also made him Arsenal’s youngest player in any competition, breaking the record previously held by Cesc Fabregas, who debuted at 16 years and 177 days.
This season, the Hale End academy graduate has already appeared in four Premier League games against teams like Liverpool, Bournemouth, Tottenham, and Leicester City, showing maturity beyond his years.
With Arsenal competing in the Champions League, Premier League, League Cup, and FA Cup, young players like Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are expected to have more chances to shine. Before the Preston game, Arteta commented on Lewis-Skelly’s progress, saying he’s “earned the right to play.” Arteta described him as confident, committed, and possessing the qualities Arsenal needs in his role, noting his strong defensive skills and adaptability.
“When a player has this kind of talent, I don’t care if he’s from the academy,” Arteta said. “They deserve the opportunity if they’ve earned it.”
