BREAKING: NEW United Boss Ruben Amorim Ready to AXE Four Big-Name Players!
Ruben Amorim is reportedly set to make significant changes when he takes over as manager at Manchester United, with plans to exclude four players from the squad. According to Fichajes, the new manager aims to release Casemiro, Victor Lindelof, Antony, and Christian Eriksen, who are no longer part of his vision for the team.
The decision comes after Manchester United’s disappointing start to the season, which led to Erik ten Hag’s dismissal following a 2-1 loss to West Ham on October 28. Ten Hag had only managed four wins in 14 matches for the 2024-25 season, prompting the club to act swiftly in appointing Amorim. Known for revitalizing Sporting CP since 2020, Amorim is considered one of the most talented young managers in the sport.
Though he will remain with Sporting CP until November 10, Amorim has already started planning for his Manchester United tenure. Among his priorities is trimming the squad of players he views as underperforming. Casemiro, despite some impressive moments, has struggled with consistency, while Antony has failed to meet expectations since his transfer from Ajax in 2022. Additionally, both Eriksen and Lindelof are nearing the end of their contracts, making them likely candidates for a January transfer.
These changes could pave the way for new acquisitions, allowing Amorim to shape the team to his preferred style. It is anticipated that he may implement a back-three system, which he successfully employed at Sporting CP. Manchester United already has defenders like Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Lisandro Martinez, who could suit this formation well.
Amorim may also seek to strengthen the defense with a potential signing of Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP. The Ivorian defender has been impressive under Amorim’s management, but his transfer could cost United upwards of £70 million.
