Barca ‘make decision’ on Cancelo future as City ‘eye’ £10million youngster for potential transfer

Barcelona has made a firm decision regarding the future of Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo for the upcoming summer transfer window. On the other hand, Manchester City is eyeing Everton’s rising star, goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks, with a potential £10 million bid in the works.

Reports from The Sun indicate City’s keen interest in securing the services of Lukjanciks, highlighting their readiness to invest in promising talents. Despite being just 16 years old, Lukjanciks has already showcased his skills at Everton’s Under-18 level and has earned recognition with England’s Under-17 and Under-16 teams.

The possibility of a transfer deal involving a homegrown player from City heading to Goodison Park has also been mentioned. This move could prove beneficial for both clubs, especially considering Lukjanciks’ dual nationality status, which qualifies him as a domestic player across major European leagues.

For Everton, navigating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations remains crucial this summer, leading to potential player sales to boost financial resources. Players like Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana have been linked with exits as part of this strategy.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Cancelo remains focused on securing another loan deal rather than a permanent transfer. Despite Cancelo’s successful loan stint with Barcelona, which saw him make significant contributions in 38 appearances and scoring four goals, the Spanish club prefers a temporary arrangement.

Cancelo’s existing contract with City extends until 2027, implying a substantial transfer fee would be required for a permanent move. However, the player’s preference to continue with Barcelona adds complexity to the situation, potentially leading to intricate negotiations in the upcoming transfer window.
