Spanish Club Eyeing Manchester City Defender
Real Sociedad are reportedly interested in acquiring Manchester City defender Sergio Gomez during this summer’s transfer window.
Following a historic season where Manchester City secured their fourth consecutive Premier League title, Pep Guardiola faces the tough task of enhancing an already formidable squad.
The left-back position has been the only notable weakness for City in recent seasons, with Guardiola frequently rotating players in this spot.
However, the arrival of Josko Gvardiol last summer has solidified the left-back role. The versatile Croatian, primarily a center-back, has adapted well to the position, showcasing exceptional technical skills and an unexpected attacking threat.
With Gvardiol now settled, Sergio Gomez’s future at Manchester City is uncertain. The 23-year-old Spanish international did not start any Premier League games last season, struggling to secure a place in the starting eleven since his move from Anderlecht in 2022.
As Gomez’s prospects at City remain unclear, Real Sociedad are reportedly keen on signing him. According to Fabrizio Romano, the La Liga club is looking to replace Kieran Tierney, who has returned to Arsenal after his loan spell, with the Spanish defender.
