Joshua Zirkzee’s Transfer Value Soars as Arsenal’s ‘Proposal’ Strengthens Mikel Arteta’s Position
Joshua Zirkzee’s Transfer Value Soars Amid Arsenal’s Interest
Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as one of Europe’s top strikers and is being closely watched by Arsenal.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal’s interest in Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee is intensifying. The Gunners are in the market for a new centre-forward as Mikel Arteta aims to dethrone Manchester City in the Premier League.
Zirkzee has caught Arsenal’s eye following his impressive performances for Bologna. After a prolific stint with Anderlecht in Belgium, the 23-year-old has continued to shine in Serie A. His first season was a period of adaptation, but he has since played a crucial role in helping Bologna secure their first-ever Champions League qualification.
Standing at 6ft 4in, Zirkzee netted 11 league goals under Thiago Motta’s guidance and is now anticipated to make a big-money move this summer. Besides Arsenal, his former club Bayern Munich is also interested, especially after their recent failure to clinch the Bundesliga title.
Arsenal’s hopes of signing the Dutch forward have been boosted by comments from his agent. According to Corriere dello Sport, Kia Joorabchian has stated that Zirkzee is keen on a move to north London.
Zirkzee’s intermediary reportedly has a good relationship with Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, and a contract proposal has already been made. The offer includes a four-year deal and a wage increase, with his £35m release clause considered a fair deal.
Interestingly, just a year ago, Zirkzee’s market value was significantly lower. In 2022, Bologna acquired him for around €8.5m (£7.2m), and after a quiet initial season in Italy, his market value was only €9m (£7.6m) according to Transfermarkt.com.
