Mauricio Pochettino provides updates on Chelsea’s squad against Tottenham

Confirmed: Chelsea squad updates against Tottenham with two additional players sidelined due to injuries

Mauricio Pochettino recently addressed the media ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming match against Tottenham in the Premier League.

The key question before this fixture was whether Levi Colwill, Reece James, Raheem Sterling, or Christopher Nkunku would be available for selection after all four were seen training with Chelsea during the week.

Colwill and James, in particular, have been significant absences for Chelsea, and their return to training has been a positive development. Chelsea has felt the absence of their club captain, who underwent surgery after being sidelined due to another injury.

During the press conference, Pochettino provided updates on the team’s injuries and availability following Chelsea’s latest injury report.

All the mentioned players remain on the injury list, along with Axel Disasi, who is a recent addition.

Furthermore, Pochettino confirmed that none of the players returning to training will be fit for the match against Spurs, which is a significant setback. With 14 players injured, the situation has become quite challenging for Chelsea.

Pochettino mentioned, “We cannot expect any players to recover in the coming weeks. We only have two additional players, Thiago and Disasi, but they won’t be ready.”

This news is disappointing ahead of the match, and it appears Pochettino will once again rely on academy players, some of whom might even start due to the extensive injury list. This season has been marked by an unusually high number of injuries for Chelsea and Pochettino.

However, there is hope that the players returning to training may be available for the next game against West Ham or one of the remaining fixtures.
