Manchester United will be aiming to secure only their third victory of the Premier League campaign when they take on Brentford this Saturday.

On Friday, Erik ten Hag provided an update on team selection, offering both positive and negative news for the Red Devils. Noussair Mazraoui has been cleared to play after a minor procedure, which was done as a precaution following heart palpitations.

Additionally, Amad and Alejandro Garnacho are back in contention after missing the international break. However, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo will be sidelined for the next few weeks.

In goal, Andre Onana is expected to start, with Mazraoui likely returning to right-back despite initial indications that his absence might be prolonged. Jonny Evans, who had a standout performance at Aston Villa, is set to continue alongside Lisandro Martinez in central defense, while Diogo Dalot will fill the left-back role.

In midfield, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen built a solid partnership during Ten Hag’s debut season, and while it seemed unlikely we’d see much of them starting together again after big investments in players like Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro and Eriksen could be paired again due to Ugarte’s limited training since returning from international duty. Bruno Fernandes is expected to play his usual role as the No. 10.

Garnacho, showing strong form this season, is expected to start on the right wing, while Marcus Rashford will take the left. Up front, Rasmus Hojlund, United’s most reliable scorer, is set to lead the attack as Ten Hag cannot afford to leave him out with the team’s current goal-scoring issues.
