TRANSFER SHOCKER: Liverpool Steal Manchester United’s Target in Surprise Move!
Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, a player also being pursued by Manchester United. Zubimendi, a standout in La Liga, has attracted interest from several top European clubs, including those in the Premier League.
According to Paul Joyce of the Times, Liverpool have shown interest in the Spanish international. However, it’s unclear how serious their pursuit is, while Manchester United, who have also been linked with Zubimendi through Football Insider, are expected to remain in the race for his signature.
While Zubimendi would be a strong addition to Liverpool’s squad, it’s somewhat surprising that manager Arne Slot might prioritize a midfield signing, especially after the extensive midfield overhaul last summer.
Given the recent arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, following the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, and Naby Keita, it’s unclear where Zubimendi would fit in. Although some of these new signings haven’t yet hit top form, they may still need more time to adapt.
On the other hand, Manchester United arguably have a greater need for Zubimendi. With Casemiro’s form declining and Sofyan Amrabat’s future uncertain after a disappointing loan spell, United could benefit more from his arrival. While Zubimendi could improve Liverpool, their fans might prefer to see more focus on bolstering their defense and attack after last year’s heavy investment in the midfield.
