Two Manchester City Stars Criticized on Social Media Following FA Cup Final Loss to Manchester United

Manchester City’s season ended on a sour note with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley, leading to a wave of criticism directed at two of their players on social media.

Despite being favorites to secure their second consecutive FA Cup victory, having defeated the same team in last year’s final, City fell short this time around.

Manchester United, under Erik ten Hag, disrupted the expected outcome early. A long ball unsettled the City defense, allowing Alejandro Garnacho to tap the ball into the net.

United doubled their lead before halftime with Kobbie Mainoo finishing a well-executed team move from close range.

In the second half, goalkeeper Andre Onana made several critical saves, thwarting City’s attempts to equalize. Erling Haaland’s near-miss, where he hit the bar, was among City’s few highlights.

Jeremy Doku’s late goal for City provided a glimmer of hope, but United held firm to secure the trophy.

Haaland struggled to find the net, and Kevin De Bruyne was substituted after 56 minutes following a difficult game. Both players faced harsh criticism from City supporters online.

One fan commented, “De Bruyne was awful, probably still slightly injured.”

Another labeled the performance an “Absolute disasterclass.”

A third pointed out, “Martinez winning headers against Haaland feels poor to say the least.”

A fourth fan compared De Bruyne unfavorably to other midfield stars, stating, “They said De Bruyne is better than Kroos and Modric.”

Despite the disappointment at Wembley, City still celebrated their fourth consecutive Premier League title. However, the loss marred what could have been a perfect season finale for Pep Guardiola’s side.

For Manchester United and Erik ten Hag, the victory bolstered the Dutch manager’s position and demonstrated his tactical acumen, ensuring a memorable end to their season.
