Arsenal receive significant transfer advantage as £50m Declan Rice teammate becomes available

Arsenal Receive Major Transfer Boost with £51m Rice Partner Now Available

Arsenal have been given a significant boost in their pursuit of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who was a key target during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, a pivotal player for Everton since his transfer from Lille in the summer of 2022, made 37 appearances across all competitions last season, netting three goals.

Sources from football.london reveal that Arsenal considered a move for Onana in January, engaging in ‘intensive’ discussions with Everton. These negotiations could now resume, as Everton is reportedly open to selling Onana this summer, with HITC indicating that the club values him at over £50 million.

Everton’s financial instability, heightened by takeover uncertainties, might compel them to offload valuable players like Onana. His departure could be a strategic move to alleviate financial pressures.

Securing Onana would greatly benefit Arsenal’s Declan Rice, as the former could assume a deeper midfield role. This shift would allow Rice to advance further up the field, enhancing his impact in attacking scenarios.

Reflecting on his role, Rice commented, “The way Mikel wants his six to play is completely different to his eight. Playing higher up the pitch recently has been a learning experience, but my natural position is as a six. However, I’m excited about the opportunities to play as an eight, drive forward, and score goals. I can play both roles, but there’s always room for improvement.”

Manager Mikel Arteta is eager to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, aiming for a robust challenge for the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.
